Saxscape

for artists expressing their personal vision, and for working professionals
who need solid intonation, projection, and great tone.
Welcome

a look around the site. If you have any questions, contact

QUOTES
Jazz
Legend Benny Golson:
"Though I will carry my old metal Otto Link in my case as
an extra, yours [Uptown Xtra Dark .130 large chamber]
will definitely be my primary one. It's like a gift from heaven.
Its sound is overwhelmingly beautiful ... full, round, dark and
completely individualistic. It's my sound, Ken. It's the sound
I've dreamed of all my life."

Jimmy
Greene nyc artist:
(Played w/ Freddie Hubbard and Harry Connick Jr.)
"While
playing the Saxscape mouthpiece, simply put, I am able to achieve
the sound I hear in my head. Ken Barry has come up with a great
design, and I have been thrilled with my Saxscape Uptown Xtra
Dark [.120 tip opening]. The mouthpiece gives me the
deep, dark sound I always imagined, without sacrificing clarity,
projection, or response."

Michael Blake nyc artist:
(Played
w/ The Lounge Lizards)
"I can play everything I hear without struggling for it.
There's more mid range and high end without compensating the dark,
airy sound I love to make on the tenor." [Uptown Dark
.100]

SAMPLES

This one is me playing the Uptown
Xtra Dark [ HR profile .104 opening] on tenor, on a
gig. This is my personal piece, it has more resistance but it's
very flexible tonally and has lots of soul to it. The rhythm section
is Bill Bickford
on guitar, John Cutrone
on drums, and Phil
Bowler on bass (toured with Jackie McLean, Wynton Marsalis).

This sample highlights the Downtown
high-baffle mouthpiece for tenor. The sax player is Nick
Franciosa, who worked for Dave Guardala as a horn evaluater.
Nick is also a consultant for me for Saxscape mouthpiece designs.
ORDERING
AND TRIAL POLICY
When you order a mouthpiece from me, it will usually take 4 to 5
weeks to complete and ship it, as each mouthpiece is made to order.
I do require payment first, either through the online store, PayPal,
check, or money order. You will have 2 weeks to try it out and decide
whether to keep it, exchange it for another piece, or get a full
refund including shipping. Trying mouthpieces is very subjective
and I try to be as flexible as possible in providing options.
